The need for such a facility was great as prior to the halls opening, the chemistry lecture hall the largest room in the University at the time had for many years been pressed into service for student meetings, club gatherings, socials and other such occasions arranged by Otagos 300+ students of the day. As such, our practice is to open a megathread to ensure these questions can be asked (and to give a one-stop shop to look through past questions!).
